Eric stewards 537 feet of his shoreline along Columbia River in Grant County. He understands the challenges of sustaining the natural character of a property and the difficulties in maintaining or even improving the habitat for maximum personal enjoyment. Having land that sustains wildlife and mostly sustains itself is immensely satisfying.
Yet, who doesn't want a place to swim, fish, or launch a boat? People often want views of the natural environment around them from their homes- over a lake or across a river- for instance. But is water from the creek getting much closer than it used to? We also don't want a landscape that carries fire to our buildings. Local governments and conservancies themselves often need to manage riparian areas to discourage floods, fire, and rogue activities. Also, farmers want to maintain their working acreage from nature's encroachment, including the threats of fire.
There are many reasons that altering protected habitats- Forest, Shorelines and other critical areas- are completely reasonable. But in ALL cases, it is best to KNOW what is okay to act on without a permit. From his 21 years as a State Fish and Wildlife Habitat Biologist in Central Washington, Eric brings a keen sense of where regulations may require engagement with local governments before you begin to clear, excavate, fill, or build. He recommends alternative site designs and potential onsite, offsite, or in-lieu mitigations to get at that best alternative that sustains functions and values. OR maybe he can let you know an action is exempt or otherwise unregulated. He can identify your need to gain engineering help or recommend other contractors or specialists to assess your situation.
If you receive a notification that you are violation of an environmental law, EPR Limited may be able to recommend that least-cost, least-conflict proposal to find compliance with the involved agencies/local governments.
